Veteran utility player re-signs with Hamilton

The Hamilton Cardinals, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) are pleased to announce the signing of local veteran infielder/outfielder Laine Renaud (Hamilton, On)

Renaud enters his 5th season in the IBL after reaching career highs in 2021 in hits, Rbi’s and average. In, 2021 Renaud hit .279 (31-111) with 2 homeruns and 19 Rbi’s. In his IBL career, Renaud has hit .251 (101-403) with 10 doubles, 11 homeruns, 59 runs driven in and 11 stolen bases.

“Laine is a true team player and the heart and soul of this team. He leads in the clubhouse and in the dugout. His desire to win and support of his teammates is unmatched. Players around the league also respect him. He gives us versatility as well, as he can play all corner infield and outfield spots, I am so happy to have Laine back in 2022”, GM Jeff Lounsbury

 

About returning this season, Renaud stated, “I am excited to return as a Cardinal and blessed to represent my hometown. Looking forward to competing with a newer group of guys and to make a strong push for the trophy this summer.”   

The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
