Third Baseman Niles Returns to Cardinals

HAMILTON -  The Hamilton Cardinals announced today the re-signing of third baseman Josh Niles for the upcoming 2024 season, his fourth season with the club.

A native of St. Thomas, Ontario, Niles returns to the Cardinals after appearing in 35 games last season, where he had a total of 29 hits including 4 home runs. Niles will see more time at third base in 2024 with Laine Renaud shifting to first base.

“Moving Josh across the diamond is where he feels most confident long-term, and we want him to play comfortably,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals General Manager. “He’ll deal with quieter traffic on defense, so the goal is to put more emphasis on hitting up to his expected standard.”

Niles’ baseball journey has taken him to Canisius University in Buffalo, New York. While at Canisius he has been a member of the 2022 MAAC Championship team and an Academic All-American in 2022 and 2023. Prior to Canisius, Niles was a member of the Great Lakes Canadians.
