Tanner Rempel signs with Cardinals for 2023 Season

HAMILTON - It’s with great excitement the Hamilton Cardinals announce the signing of former Canadian Junior National Team catcher Tanner Rempel for the 2023 season.

Originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Rempel played high school ball for the Abbotsford Cardinals and Team Canada before attending Colorado Mesa University. During his time as catcher at Mesa, the 26-year-old boasted an impressive .500 OBP  and .372 average. Over five seasons, he racked up 11 home runs, 29 doubles and 94 hits.

“Rempel gives us another No. 1 option behind the plate and leadership in the clubhouse,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals General Manager. “Personality-wise, there aren’t many like Tanner. My heart was/is set on him, and we’re fortunate he’s choosing to play for the Birds.”

Prior to signing with Hamilton, Rempel played for the Victoria HarbourCats (West Coast League) for two seasons, where he played in 25 games with 61 appearances at bat and with 11 doubles.
