Missed opportunities cost cardinals

The Hamilton Cardinals fell behind 1-0 on a unearned run in the 2nd inning then tied it up in the 6th inning on Jon Dziomba double scoring Chris Beer. Then the Cardinals missed opportunities in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings with a runner on 2nd base and no outs only  to have Kitchener take advantage of their opportunity in the 9th scoring another unearned in the top of the 9th for the 2 to 1 victory.

The starters were solid as Kitchener's Jasvir Rakkar went 6 innings allowing 1 run with 6 strikeouts ans was matched by Hamilton's Zack Gonzalez who threw 6 innings allowing 1 unearned run with 2 strikeouts.

Kitchener out hit Hamilton 9 to 7, but Hamilton's 2 errors both contributed in the scoring.

Justin Gideon, Jacob Martins and Jon Dziomba all had 2 hits for the Cardinals, while Laine Renaud had a double. 

Newcomer Kelvin Pichardo picked up the loss throwing 1 1/3 innings giving up 0 hits with 1 strikeout. Kitchener's Christian Hauck picked up the win with a solid inning of relief and Miguel Lahera pitched a clean 9th for the save.

Hamilton is back at home on Sunday vs Brantford at 2pm
