Lefty Joins Cards Pitching Staff For 2022
HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) are pleased to announce the signing of Left-handed Pitcher Edward Paredes of Villa Arriva, Dominican Republic.
The 33-year-old Paredes pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017 and 2018. With the Dodgers, Paredes pitched in 25 games picking up 19 strikeouts in 16 innings. He had a record of 3-0. Before making his MLB debut, Paredes spent 11 seasons in the minors, including parts of 5 seasons in AAA. In 329 games pitched in the minors, Paredes had a record of 39-42 with 26 saves. He recorded 558 strikeouts in 580 innings.
"We are very happy to add a left-handed pitcher with the experience that Paredes has" said Cardinals General Manager Jeff Lounsbury. "He pitched last summer in the Atlantic League and the Dominican Summer League, so even though he’s 33 he was still pitching at a high-level last summer and is only four years removed from the big leagues. We feel he will solidify the backend of our bullpen and help teach our younger players."
The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
