Jackfish Shut Down Cardinals
The Hamilton Cardinals lost 10-2 to the Jackfish (3-0) on a cool, rainy Thursday night in Welland.
Welland’s starting pitcher, Jake Harford threw seven solid innings, striking out eight and only conceding one earned run. Harford was credited with the win as the Jackfish continue to roll this season. Welland now holds the best run differential in the IBL at +16.
Highlights for the Cardinals included a triple for shortstop Luis Jean, who’s hitting .412 through Hamilton's first four games.
A beautiful 4-6-3 double-play was made by Tyler Giancos, Luis Jean and Tristan Osika in the bottom of the second inning.
Jackfish infielder Brandon Nicholson was three for five including two doubles and a homerun.
Welland out hit Hamilton 13-6 in the game that was interrupted by a 20-minute rain delay.
Notably, Welland’s Tyler Dupuis tallied three RBI’s on three hits in the game.
Hamilton will look to bounce back in their next game on the road on Friday, May 27 at 7:35 p.m. against the London Majors (2-1).
The Cardinals will return home on Sunday, May 29 at 2:05 p.m. at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium against the Barrie Baycats (4-0).
