Hamilton resigns local boy Laine Renaud

Local boy Laine Renaud is set to return for his 4th season for the Cardinals. Last season Laine had a career high in average with a .276 batting average (27-98). He also led the team with 5 in Homeruns while batting in 12. In his IBL career Renaud has hit .240 (70-292) with 9 Hr's, 40 RBI's and 6 stolen bases.

"Laine brings a power bat to the lineup and when he is hot he can carry the team. He can play in the outfield or corner infield spots so that allows Coach Castelli some flexibility. He is a great team player who wears his heart on his sleeve and is blue collar type of player. He is very hard on himself but when he is playing with confidence he could be one of most productive hitters in the league. We look forward to having him back." states GM Jeff Lounsbury

When Laine re-signed he said "I'm excited to be back, looking forward to being with the Cardinals and contributing to a championship season. There is only one thing on our mind and that's hardware. It's obvious this organization has been on the rise and that we've been making great strides, no one can take that from us. However, were not satisfied. We are looking forward to a winning season and the type of team we have in our locker room is exactly what we need to get it done. See you on the diamond."

The Cardinals open the season on the road on May 10 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.  They return to face Toronto on their home opener on May 22. Full schedule and ticket information are at the links above.

The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of Ontario's most elite baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
