Hamilton Native Returns To Cardinals For 2nd Season

The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of Left-Handed Pitcher Jacob Gajic (Hamilton Ont). Gajic who is from Hamilton will be entering his 2nd season in the IBL. Last season, Gajic pitched in 8 games, with a 0-1 record, 19 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.45 in 14.2 innings.

Gajic is currently finishing his sophomore season at Northwest Missouri State. Gajic has had an incredible season with a 0-1 record with an ERA of 2.40. He has 5 saves and 44 strikeouts in 41.1 innings.

“Jacob did a great job for us last season. He got his feet wet and pitched in high level situations. This experience obviously gave him some confidence and he has continued to get better and has had a great season at school. We look forward to having him back. He is a local product that may have flown under the radar in the past, but in our clubhouse we truly value his contributions and what he brings to the team on and off the field.” GM Jeff Lounsbury

Jacob’s college season is almost over and will be returning home shortly. “I’m looking forward to getting back with the guys and building off our successes last summer. I am also excited to be back playing for my hometown team in front of family and friends.”

Hamilton will kick off their 2022 season on the road against the Red Sox in Brantford on Friday May 20th (8pm start) and against the Barrie Baycats on May 21st (4pm start). The home opener for the Cardinals will go Sunday May 22nd when the team hosts the Guelph Royals. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05pm.

The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
