Hamilton Gets Back into the Win Column

HAMILTON – Justin Gideon went 2-for-4 and hit his first home run of the season to lead the Hamilton Cardinals to a 9-2 win over the Brantford Red Sox Sunday afternoon at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.

Gideon finished with three RBI and two runs as the Cardinals improved to 6-4. Connor Patterson and Mike Ceechetto each drove in a run and scored, Jake Chiaravalle singled three times and scored, Connor Bowie and Luke Tevlin each had an RBI, and Grant Arnold singled twice.

Chris Lazar (3-1) picked up the win, allowing two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts over seven innings.

Matt McGovern (0-2) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on eight hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out one.

Fernando Suarez and Gianfranco Morello drove in Brantford's runs. Anthony Rizquez singled twice.

The Red Sox dropped to 1-12.
