Former WCBL All-Star Charlie Towers Signs With Cardinals

HAMILTON-  The Hamilton Cardinals, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), Canada's top league, announced today the signing of shortstop Charlie Towers for the upcoming 2023 season.

The 6 foot, 175 pound, Toronto, Ontario native joins the Cardinals after an All-Star season with the Fort McMurray Giants of the Western Canadian Baseball League in 2022.

Towers is a versatile athlete that brings energy to the diamond. Towers is known for his strong defense and his tenacity to get on base. Prior to the Fort McMurray Giants, Towers played in 2021 for the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the WCBL and the Genesee Rapids of the NYCL. Towers was also a student-athlete at the University of the Fraser Valley.

"I care about youth, longevity, arrogance and swagger at such a premium position – his lefty bat is a bonus," said Cardinals General Manager George Halim. "He’s young, so I value creating an environment where he can flourish through failure, while affording us the opportunity to be patient as he acclimates himself to the league.”
