DH Josh Williams signs with Cardinals
The Hamilton Cardinals announce the signing of designated hitter Josh Williams for the upcoming 2024 season.
The 6-foot-5 Toronto native will be joining the Cardinals after a season split between the London Majors and the Welland Jackfish in 2023. Despite limited action, appearing in only 13 games for London, Williams made his mark with 10 hits and 6 RBIs. His return to the IBL last year marked a significant comeback after his 2021 season was prematurely ended by an injury, sidelining him for the entire 2022 season. Williams' addition brings a valuable left-handed option to the Cardinals' batting lineup.
“We’re grateful to work out a mutual agreement with the London Majors so Josh could still play in the IBL while being closer to his job,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals General Manager. “He’ll be an influential presence for our younger core as we build towards the future.”
Before joining the IBL, Josh Williams showcased his talents in the Pecos League with the White Sands Pupfish during the 2018 season. There, he achieved a .333 batting average, hit six home runs, and contributed 30 RBIs, while also scoring 33 runs and hitting 13 doubles. Prior to that, Williams concluded his college baseball journey at Arkansas-Pine Bluff where he was a career .285 hitter.
