Cards Sign Former Canadian JNT Pitcher

The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of Right Handed Pitcher Sam Turcotte (Toronto, On).

The 6’5” Turcotte joins the Cardinals after graduating in 2021 from Stony Brook University. In his senior year Turcotte went 6-3 with a 2.93 ERA with 66 Strikeouts in 67.2 IP.

Turcotte was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team in 2015-16 along with the newest Cardinal Tyler Duncan. Turcotte also pitched 4 summers for the Ontario Terriers and is now helping coach that program as well.

“Sam is a great addition to the Cardinals. He is a smart pitcher, he is a strike thrower and he has a calm about him with an inner fire to succeed. He has so many intangibles as a pitcher that I am sure many of our younger pitchers will learn a lot from. He is one of Ontario’s top pitcher’s and we are so happy to have him here in Hamilton”- GM Jeff Lounsbury.

Hamilton will kick off their 2022 season on the road against the Red Sox in Brantford on Friday May 20th (8pm start) and against the Barrie Baycats on May 21st (4pm start). The home opener for the Cardinals will go Sunday May 22nd when the team hosts the Guelph Royals. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05pm.

The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
