Cards shutout Jackfish for 4th win in a row
The Hamilton Cardinals' win streak reached four games after a 9-0 road win over the Welland Jackfish Thursday night.
Hamilton starter Clay Miller helped his cause with a three-run homer in the top of the ninth. Laine Renaud also went deep and drove in two while scoring three runs. Jon Dziomba and Jake Chiaravalle each went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, Chris Beer had four hits, an RBI and a run, and Grant Arnold drove in a run and scored once.
On the mound, Miller (3-1) went eight innings and allowed three hits and four walks while striking out eight.
The Cardinals improved to 15-13.
Brendon Dadson and Wilson Soriano each doubled for the Jackfish (14-12).
Euclides Leyer (5-2) yielded two runs on seven hits over six ininings. He struck out seven.
