Cards Drop Pitchers Duel

Two London pitchers held the Hamilton Cardinals to 10 hits and no runs in a 2-0 victory Wednesday night at Labatt Park.

Lucas Kelley (1-0) started and went seven innings, scattering seven hits while walking four and striking out six. Braeden Ferrington finished the game with two innings of three-hit relief to seal the victory and earn his third save of 2021.

Offensively, Byron Reichstein went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run, Hayden Jaco singled twice, and Chris McQueen went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of steals.

Jeremie Veilleux had three of Hamilton's hits, while Laine Renaud and Ryan Freemantle added two apiece.

Starting pitcher Ryan Burnside (0-2) allowed two runs on seven hits. One of the two runs he gave up was unearned.

First-place London now sits at 17-6, while Hamilton dropped to 10-14.

Hamilton will look to end their losing streak on Friday night when they travel to Brantford to face the Red Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 8pm. If Stefan Strecker enters the game on Friday night it will be his 300th career appearance in the IBL regular season, and doing it where it all started.
