Cards Add To 2022 Coaching Staff

The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the addition of Hamilton born Bill Matetich to the Hamilton Cardinals coaching staff for the 2022 season. Bill will become the Cardinals bench coach to compliment Manager Dean Castelli and 1^st base coach Chris Piano.  Bill coached in the IBL as recently as 2019 with the Brantford Red Sox and played in the IBL back in the 1980's with the Stratford Hillers winning numerous league championships, resulting in Bill and his teammates from that era being inducted into the Stratford Wall of Fame in 2018 for their league dominance during the 1980's.  Bill has also been involved with Baseball at various levels including also helping coach the Stratford Midgets to 5 consecutive OBA Championships.

“We are so happy to get someone with Bill’s experience and love of the game to join our staff. We wanted to add a voice and someone who knew the players in the league and understood IBL baseball. Bill was a catcher and that experience will help with running the bullpen, setting up defenses and keeping players focused,” GM Jeff Lounsbury  

The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
