Cardinals win Game 1

HAMILTON – The Hamilton Cardinals opened their quarter-final series with an 11-3 win over the Guelph Royals Wednesday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. 

Connor Bowie drove in four in the win. Chris Beer and Luke Tevlin each had two hits and a run, Justin Gideon singled twice and scored twice and drove in a run, Jon Dziomba went 3-for-5 with four runs, two steals and RBI, Grant Arnold scored twice and swiped a pair of bases, Laine Renaud had two RBI, and Connor Patterson singled twice and had an RBI and a run. 

Chris Lazar (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits, striking out two over seven innings. 

For Guelph, Josh Garton homered and drove in two, while Justin Interisano added a solo blast. Ricky Murray singled twice. 

Yomar Concepcion (0-1) surrendered seven runs (four earned) on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
