Cardinals sign pitchers Zach Cameron & Steven Hospital

The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the signing of local relief pitchers Zach Cameron and Steven Hospital.

Both pitchers come to the Cardinals following graduation from Niagara University, impacting the roster during the program’s first ever MAAC Championship run.

A Bishop Ryan product who graduated high school from the Fieldhouse Pirates program, Cameron was part of the early building blocks to Niagara’s current success. He went on to cement himself as one of the best arms in program history.

Over five seasons, Cameron struck out 176 hitters in 167.2 innings pitched, owning a career 3.65 ERA. In his final season, he dominated to the tune of being named MAAC Relief Pitcher of the Year, making 20 appearances out of the bullpen in 2024. He also went 8-1 with a MAAC-best 10 saves (good for 9th in NCAA Division I) over 48.2 innings in the regular season.

Another local product out of Oakville, Steven Hospital joins the Cardinals wearing the hat of all-time appearances leader at Niagara University.

In his five seasons at Niagara, Hospital became Mr. Reliable - setting the program record with 93 appearances in 128 innings pitched. All but one of those outings came out of the bullpen.

“Strengthening our pitching staff with two impact arms this early in the season gives us comfort & depth for the next 40 games,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals General Manager. “Zach & Doc bring a culture we desire in Hamilton. They happen to be quality local arms that know how to win.”

The Cardinals next home game is Friday June 14th at 7:35pm against the Kitchener Panthers.
