Cardinals Sign Infield Luis Jean

The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of infielder Luis Jean (San Pedro de Macoris , DR). Luis spent 6 seasons in the Colorado Rockies system reaching AA in 2017. He hit a career .264 (315-1191) in the minors with 41 doubles, 10 triples, 2 homeruns, 125 RBI's and 88 sb's.

Jean originally signed to play in Hamilton in 2020, but with COVID shutting down the season he did not get the opportunity. With a career .937 fielding percentage the Cardinals are going to get great defense from Jean. He also gives Coach Castelli defensive flexibility. He played every position but catcher in the minors and this allows the team to move around Luis if needed.

“Luis will be fun to watch, he will play highlight defense but he will also add speed and energy to the lineup. In watching recent video’s of him hitting, he seems to be less springy and quicker to the ball then from his pro days with more power. He is now at a mature baseball age and seems to have grown into his body. He is 50 lb’s heavier than when he played pro and is athletic and very strong, we really look forward to having him here this summer” GM Jeff Lounsbury.

The Hamilton Cardinals Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
