Cardinals re-sign Tanner Rempel

The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce that they have successfully re-signed first baseman Tanner Rempel.

Originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Rempel made an impactful debut in the IBL in 2023. Over the course of 27 games last season, he achieved a .313 batting average, hit 8 doubles, and demonstrated remarkable plate discipline with only 13 strikeouts and 7 walks. Rempel quickly became a beloved figure for his charismatic presence both in the clubhouse and in the community.

Before joining the Cardinals, Rempel showcased his talent at Abbotsford Cardinals and Team Canada during his high school years, and later at Colorado Mesa University. As a catcher at Mesa, he maintained an outstanding .500 on-base percentage and a .372 batting average. Throughout his five seasons, he accumulated 11 home runs, 29 doubles, and 94 hits. Off-the-field, Rempel coaches with the Ontario Blue Jays.

“Tanner is a consistent and reliable hitter, so we’re going to put more of an emphasis on his bat this season,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals General Manager. “We’re going to move him away from the plate and ideally that extends his career with us.”

The Cardinals first home game is on Friday May 17th at 7:30pm against the Guelph Royals. Tickets are now available at CardinalsTickets.ca and the game will be available live on Cable14Now.com.
