Cardinals re-sign relief pitcher Rushil Bhat

The Hamilton Cardinals have officially re-signed reliever Rushil Bhat for the upcoming baseball season.

Bhat, originally from London, Ontario, and a former player for St. Bonaventure University, will be returning to the Cardinals' bullpen in 2024.

In the 2023 season, Bhat appeared in 12 games for the Cardinals, posting an 8.85 ERA with 20.1 innings pitched. He recorded 16 strikeouts, 17 walks, and allowed 30 hits. While at St. Bonaventure, Bhat had a notable junior season, leading his team with 22 relief appearances and achieving 18 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. Bhat graduated from St. Bonaventure in 2023 after a senior season where he pitched 14 innings with 12 strikeouts.

“We’re shooting for collective predictability from the bullpen to feel comfortable when our starters come out,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals General Manager. “We know what Rushil is capable of when he’s at his best, so our job is to make sure he’s in the best possible position to thrive in his role.”

The Cardinals first home game is on Friday May 17th at 7:30pm against the Guelph Royals. Tickets are now available at CardinalsTickets.ca and the game will be available live on Cable14Now.com.
