CARDINALS PITCHERS SHUT DOWN RED SOX

A trio of Hamilton pitchers combined to blank Brantford Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

Chris Lazar (2-0) started and went seven innings in the 3-0 win, scattering seven hits while walking one and striking out nine. Jacob Gajic fanned one in the eighth, and Stefan Strecker walked one and struck out one for his second save.

Ryan Burnside provided the bulk of the Cardinals' offence with a home run and two RBI. Cal Brazier singled and doubled, and Tristan Osika went 3-for-5.

Gianfranco Morello, Colton Fountain and Matthew Pilarczyk all had a pair of hits for Brantford (1-6).

Mackenzie Major (0-1) took the loss in relief, allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Starter Kyle Lev struck out nine over five shutout innings. He walked two and gave up six hits.
