Cardinals lose second game to Brantford
The Hamilton Cardinals lost 6-2 to the Brantford Red Sox on the road at Arnold Anderson Stadium on Wed, July 13.
Hamilton out-hit the Red Sox in the loss, Brantford also picked up their first home win of the year.
Right fielder, Tyler Duncan, hit a sacrifice fly to score Justin Gideon in the top of the fifth for Hamilton, making it 2-1 for Brantford.
Catcher, Aiden Muir, was one of two Cardinals with multiple hits in the game, going three for four in the game. Designated hitter, Jeremie Veilleux, was two for four and had a walk.
Cardinals infielder, Sean Pettener, tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning.
Starting pitcher, Sam Turcotte, was credited with the loss after going six and two thirds innings, giving up five earned runs while striking out eight and walking five.
Gabe Bruder closed out the game on the mound for Brantford, pitching a clean eighth and ninth inning.
Andre Wojtarowicz was credited with the win for the Red Sox pitching three scoreless innings while striking out eight batters.
With this loss, Hamilton’s record falls to 6-18, still three games back of Kitchener for sixth place.
The Cardinals play their next game on the road against the Kitchener Panthers at Jack Couch Park on Thurs, July 14 at 7:35 p.m.
The Cardinals don’t play at home again until Sunday, July 17, when they will take on the Welland Jackfish at 2:05 p.m.
