Cardinals light up the scoreboard in shutout win over Brantford

The Hamilton Cardinals defeated the Brantford Red Sox by a score of 19-0 on Tuesday night.

Cards’ starter, Owen MacNeil, threw six shutout innings, only surrendering three hits while striking out seven.

Cardinals back catcher, Jeremie Veilleux, went three for four with four RBI’s, giving him seven in total this year.

The Cardinals bats were on fire as the whole team rallied all game, scoring in nearly every inning. Multiple RBI’s were had by Luis Jean (2), Laine Renaud (3), Anthony Buonaiuto (3), and Jeremie Veilleux (4).

Third baseman, Laine Renaud, hit his second homerun of the season in the third inning to extend Hamilton’s lead at the time.

Tyler Giancos also hit a homer for the Cards in the bottom on the seventh.

Owen MacNeil, Stefan Strecker, Julian Russell and John Filice combined for a shutout win, striking out 11 all together and only walking two. The Cardinals were only charged with one error in the game and only conceded five hits.

Centrefielder, Justin Gideon tallied his tenth RBI tonight, which puts him fourth in the IBL in that category. Gideon also made a nice 8-3 double play in the top of the third inning.

Tyler Duncan went two for four, while making his way around the bases four separate times.

With this win the Cards climb to 3-6 on the season with a few games in hand due to weather postponements.

Hamilton will travel to Barrie on Thursday, June 16 to take on the Baycats at 7:30 p.m.

The Cardinals will then return home on Friday, June 17 to face the Kitchener Panthers at 7:35 p.m. at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.
