Cardinals & HWDSB Partner for Inaugural School Day Game

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Cardinals, in partnership with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, is excited to announce a special IBL School Day Exhibition Game set to take place on Thursday, May 9th, 2024. This unique educational and sporting event will feature a game between the Hamilton Cardinals and the Welland Jackfish at the historic Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium, located at 1100 Mohawk Road E on Hamilton Mountain.

The game is scheduled to commence at 11:00 am and will consist of 7 innings. This event aims to introduce students to Canada’s premier baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League, which has been a staple of Canadian sports for over a century. Many students may have yet to experience the excitement of a live baseball game, and this event promises to change that with an engaging and interactive game day experience.

The School Day Game is designed to be more than just a baseball match; it's an interactive learning experience. Our in-game host Emily Thompson will keep the students entertained between innings with trivia questions, sing-a-longs, and participation in other Cardinal game-day traditions.

To enhance the experience, each student will receive a complimentary snack, two tickets to a future Hamilton Cardinals home game, baseball cards, and informational packets about the Cardinals.

This collaboration between the Hamilton Cardinals and the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board will extend into the classroom as the organization will collaborate on an additional learning curriculum centered around the baseball experience. Schools interested in participating will follow the registration process which will be announced through an internal memo. The game will not be open to the public but will live stream on Cable14Now.com
