Cardinals fall to Jackfish in final road game of the year

The Hamilton Cardinals lost 19-4 to the Jackfish at Welland Stadium on Thursday night.

Welland’s starting pitcher, Jake Harford, won the game for the Jackfish after going seven innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking just one batter.

Laine Renaud continued his dominance at the plate in August, going four for five with a double and two RBI’s. In the month of August, Renaud is batting .481 with 13 hits in 26 at bats and 11 RBI’s in seven games.

Former Cardinals, Justin Gideon, hit two homeruns in the game, giving him sole possession of the homerun lead in the IBL with 17 dingers. 

Cardinals catcher, Ryan Burnside went two for five with a double and has a .293 average since coming to Hamilton. 

Shortstop, Luis Jean (.327 AVG), was also two for five for Hamilton, while Robin Fox-Pappas and Jacob Underwood both added RBI’s.

Tyler Duncan went one for four with walk and sits in fifth place in the IBL in hits. 

With this loss, Hamilton falls to 11-29 on the season, and locks up seventh place in the IBL with two games to go in the regular season. 

The Cardinals play their next game at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium on Friday night against the Kitchener Panthers (15-25) at 7:30 p.m.
