Hamilton Cardinals Sign Owen Boon For 2025 Season

The Hamilton Cardinals are proud to announce the signing of former IBL All-Star and two-time league champion, starting pitcher Owen Boon.

Boon, a London, Ontario native and Western University graduate, joins the Cardinals after an outstanding 8-year IBL career with the London Majors. Widely regarded as one of the league’s top starting pitchers over the past decade, Boon returns to the IBL after a championship-winning season with the Etobicoke Rangers in the Central Ontario Baseball Association.

In his last IBL season in 2023 with the Majors, Boon led the league with 104 strikeouts over 72 innings, posting a 3.46 ERA across 11 starts while allowing only 14 walks. His dominant performance earned him a place on the 2023 First Team All-Star roster.

Over his IBL career, Owen Boon firmly established himself as a dependable ace in the London Majors’ pitching rotation. With 39 wins, a 3.35 ERA, and 558 strikeouts across 483.2 innings pitched, he has been a consistent force on the mound. A two-time First Team All-Star (2021, 2023), Boon played a pivotal role in leading the London Majors to consecutive championships in 2021 and 2022.

Boon expressed his excitement about returning to the IBL and joining the Hamilton Cardinals, stating:

Cardinals owner Eric Spearin commented on the signing, stating, “We’re excited that Owen has chosen to continue his storied IBL career with the Hamilton Cardinals. We know this wasn’t an easy decision for him, and we appreciate his trust in our organization.”
