Hamilton Cardinals sign former New York Mets prospect Ramon Henriquez

The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of former New York Mets prospect pitcher Ramon Henriquez.

Originally from La Victoria, Dominican Republic, 25-year-old Henriquez brings professional experience to the Cardinals’ pitching staff. Henriquez caught the attention of Cardinals management during their annual tryout at the Cano Baseball Academy in San Pedro de Macorís, DR, where he showcased a lively 96 MPH fastball and a slider with a spin rate surpassing 2,550 RPM, well above the MLB average for that pitch type.

Signed as an international free agent by the New York Mets in January 2023, Henriquez quickly showcased his abilities across multiple levels of minor-league baseball. In 2023, he split time between the Florida Complex League Mets (Rookie) and the St. Lucie Mets (Single-A). During that season Henriquez posted a 4-1 record with a 3.58 ERA, striking out 38 batters in 37.2 innings. Notably, during his time with St. Lucie recorded a 2.96 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 27.1 innings, demonstrating his ability to handle higher-level competition.

“We were thoroughly impressed with Ramon at our tryout - the way he carried himself and competed was exceptional,” said Cardinals Owner Eric Spearin. “We’re excited to have him join the Cardinals rotation in 2025 alongside Owen Boon. Off the field, Ramon has been working hard to prepare for his IBL debut this season.”

The Cardinals are set to open their 2025 season at home on Friday, May 16, and 2025 season tickets are now available at CardinalsTickets.ca. Single game regular season tickets will be on sale soon!
