Hamilton Cardinals Re-Sign Rikelbin De Castro for 2025 Season
The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the re-signing of import shortstop Rikelbin De Castro for the 2025 season.
De Castro, who will be 22 years old at the start of the season, originally joined the Cardinals at the 2024 transaction deadline and made an immediate impact. In 14 combined regular season and playoff games, De Castro recorded 18 hits, 10 runs, and 5 RBIs, finishing with a solid .281 batting average. He also showcased his speed with six stolen bases.
A former top signing in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 2019 international free agent class, De Castro brings professional experience and strong defensive skills to the Cardinals’ infield. Over his minor league career, he appeared in 139 games across class-A and rookie ball, tallying 86 hits and 57 walks.
Cardinals owner Eric Spearin shared his thoughts: “We’re excited to see Rikelbin compete in his first full IBL season. He joined us mid-year last season, and with a full offseason under his belt, I believe he’s poised to become a breakout star in this league.”
Welcome back, Rikelbin!
