Cardinals rally late to defeat Red Sox

HAMILTON - Thanks to a five-run eighth inning, the Hamilton Cardinals secured a 6-2 victory over the Brantford Red Sox on Sunday at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.

The Red Sox led 2-0 in the second inning with an RBI double from Matthew Fabian and a run by Ethan Paulos.
The Cardinals closed the gap in the fourth with an RBI double from Luis Bernardo.In the eighth, the Cardinals’ offense surged with five runs. Connor Hicks and Tanner Rempel hit RBI singles, and Brendon Daley added a two-RBI single.
Tyler Duncan led the Cardinals, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Connor Hicks went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Fabian went 2-for-4 with an RBI double for Brantford.


On the mound, Corben Peters allowed two runs in four innings. The bullpen, including Jacob Gajic, Steven Hospital, and Takaki Eguchi shut out the Red Sox for the rest of the game. Casey Bouillere-Howard earned the win.


Gregor Farquharson pitched well for 7.1 innings, but reliever Roberto Alvarez DeLugo gave up four runs in 0.1 innings.
The Cardinals improve to 16-20. Their next action is Friday at home against the Welland Jackfish at 7:35 p.m.
